For those looking to start their own practice
This is for LCSWs, LPC Associates, LPC Supervisors, counselors, and other mental health professionals starting or growing a private practice, solo or group. Maybe you're leaving an agency or group practice and building your caseload from scratch. Maybe you're ready for referrals to come from somewhere besides Psychology Today.
Why It Matters
Why your practice needs its own website
Show your personality
Clients pick a therapist they feel comfortable with. A directory listing looks like everyone else's. Your own site shows your voice, your approach, and your face before the first phone call.
Get found online
When someone searches for a therapist in your city, or a specialty like EMDR or couples counseling, your site can show up in those results. Directories keep that traffic for themselves.
Build trust
A clean, professional site signals that your practice is established and legitimate. It reassures both clients and referring providers.

Questions
Questions therapists ask me
Do I need a website if I'm on Psychology Today?
Psychology Today is a good start, but you're one listing among hundreds there and you don't control how you're presented. A website gives you a home online that's fully yours, helps you show up in Google searches beyond the directory, and lets you share more about your approach than a profile allows.
Can you show my insurance panels and private pay rates?
Yes. Your site can list which insurance panels you accept and your private pay rates plainly, so clients know what to expect before they ever reach out.
Can I update the site myself, or how do updates work?
You don't have to touch any code. When you need something changed, you text or email me directly and I take care of it. Your blog includes its own login, so you can write and publish posts yourself anytime, no tech skills needed.
What if I'm still waiting on my license or just starting out?
That's a fine time to start. We can build your site now and adjust the details, like your license number or supervisor information, as they're finalized.
How long does it take to go live?
Typically between 1 to 3 weeks, depending on how quickly we can gather your content and finalize the design.
Can group practices use this too?
Yes. This works for solo practices and group practices. If you have multiple clinicians, we can build out individual bios or pages for each one.
What makes this different from the big therapist website companies?
I personally design, build, and maintain every site myself, with no support ticket queue. When you need something, you reach out to me directly and I handle it.
Starting a practice is a lot. Your website doesn't have to be.
Hi I'm Shane, I'm a Dad and a husband to a therapist. I will personally build and maintain your site and do my best to ensure it reaches the audience you want it to.
